“Kanchan Veg” was recommended to me by my colleague Prashant and I knew I am going to try it. I counted days to the weekend and here we were on the road following Google maps to hit NH 65.
I had not yet known a Dhaba or any highway eatery in this part of the country that someone would drive to for food. I am glad that changes now.
It took us 45-50 mins to cover the distance of 40 kms. from Magarpatta. Most of the highway is crowded for first half before some greens are spotted and before you realise, Kanchan Veg stands on the right side of the drive.
The exteriors are done very traditionally and we found ourselves already excited and positive about the place.
Interiors are equally charming and dotted wih the smiling servers. Right from the old man who helped us park our car to the Mr. Rajesh who was gladly recommending dishes throughout, everyone was warm and a pleasure to talk to. It is an insanely hygienic place for a highway eatery and already impressed us.
Let’s go to the food now.
I am not a Misal Pav fan, a popular snack in Maharashtra but I found the dish better than what the famous Katakirr serves. For INR 70, there is plenty that can easily serve 2 or 3 people.
INR 20 and better than what the whole of Pune serves. And I mean it 🙂
Veg. Anda Curry
When Mr. Rajesh recommended that to us, we were perplexed and asked what does that even mean😁
He explained that it is made of potatoes and paneer shaped like eggs. The curry also resembles the non vegetarian dark brown cury. We took no time to say 🆗 and God , it was delicious. There were Rumali rotis ordered and the scene was set 😎
